Deoghar Airport (IATA: DGH, ICAO: VEDO) is located in Deoghar district, Jharkhand. Developed as part of the Government of India’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik) Regional Connectivity Scheme, the airport was established to improve air connectivity in the Santhal Pargana region and support the state’s economic and tourism development.
The airport was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 12 July 2022, marking the commencement of commercial aviation services in Deoghar. The project was jointly developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Government of Jharkhand.
Deoghar Airport has significantly enhanced accessibility to one of India’s most important religious destinations, Baba Baidyanath Dham (Jyotirlinga Temple), one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
